Dining Review: Jaeu Bistro and Ramen Bar

Jaeu Bistro and Ramen Bar Alabang Food Review

We took a break from cheese and decided to go overboard with chicken this time! (Well, both start with “ch” anyway, so close enough, right?)

I took my little sister out to lunch in JAEU Bistro and Ramen Bar. From its name, it’s a Japanese-European fusion dining establishment.

with my fave sister, Jaja

The interiors were actually pretty clever. They really tried to get the atmosphere that it’s a fusion restaurant by having a part of the room look western and another like a typical Japanese restaurant. How effective or sophisticated it is would depend on the person, I feel.

The service was fine. The staff were attentive enough to our needs and were very friendly, even chatting with us for a while. After we finished our meal, the owner even came by our table to inquire how it was.

So, for the food.

As mentioned, we had chicken for appetizers and for mains. We had kaarage with cabbage salad, buffalo chicken, roasted chicken, and chicken curry rice bowl.

The only non-chicken item we got was the gyoza.

The kaarage and the buffalo chicken were so good! The crispness and flavours were on point. The roasted chicken was also fine, it was soft, smelled great, and was flavourful. The chicken curry rice bowl was a hit with my sister. She devoured the entire thing. The rice was so soft, and the other veggies mixed with the curry added textures and flavours to the dish.

I also liked their gyoza. I was hoping for steamed gyoza, but it turns out that the restaurant only serves half-steamed, half-pan seared gyoza. Still, it did provide a good crunch to the otherwise chewy dish.

The price for the food was reasonable. Not too cheap but not too extravagant either.

All in all, it was a fine day to eat chicken.
