Dining Review: Bean and Yolk
We were seated in a cozy booth. Their decor and arrangement is on the minimalist side but it's very homey.

Their menu was simple. I, for one, get overwhelmed when a restaurant offers almost everything. Can you imagine the pressure when the waiter is there and you still can't decide what food to order? I'm just glad the service here was friendly and not rushed.
They recommended their specialty dishes, Farmer John and Cara's Fave. Between the two I chose Farmer John because I felt like the Cara's Fave will be on the sweet side since it has honey on it according to the menu.
Farmer John ₱215. Fried egg, cheddar cheese, ham, bbq mayo, caramelized onions, buttered sliced brioche. What a combination! My mouth watered as I saw the egg and cheese oozing from my sandwich. The sweetness of the bbq sauce gives a nice contrast to the ham. Plus, the egg and mayo added an oomph of creaminess. All these are perfectly bound together by a warm buttered brioche. It looks so simple, but this dish has a complex taste and texture.

Sweet Potato Fries with Lime Aioli ₱195. Sweet potato fries, parmesan cheese, lime aioli.
They were served hot and crispy. I don't know if the parmesan cheese was of any help in elevating the taste; I was surprised with the lime aioli dip, though. It's very refreshing and an upgrade compared to simply dipping it in mayo or ketchup. I know fries may be on the unhealthy side, but at least sweet potato has fiber. The fries were filling — I had no room left for dessert.

Almond Turmeric Latte ₱165. There's no description on the menu so I asked what kind of drink this was. The waitress had a hard time explaining it to me so I just said, "Okay, I'm going to order that one for the sake of trying." She gave me the cup and it smelled so good, almost cinnamon-like. The foam was so rich and thick, I almost wanted to get a spoon and eat it! I was expecting a coffee kind of drink, but this was leaning towards milk tea feels. No wonder our waitress couldn't explain this drink; you have to experience it yourself. If I were to describe it, it would be "hot almond milk with turmeric." I have no regrets about trying this drink.

I found out that Bean and Yolk is owned by Ate Ella's flight attendant friend, "Papo" Jorolan. She opened this business after settling down. I wish I had a chance to meet her just to tell her personally, "I cannot believe an egg could taste this good!"
Bean and Yolk may be on the expensive side, BUT I am going to emphasize that they have electrical outlets per table, and for me, it is a sign that the restaurant allows you to stay there for hours — without them judging you, haha!
